Betsy was born on January 7, 1928 in Torreon Mexico. She died on November 10th at her home in Roseville from cancer. Betsy lived in Mexico with her parents & her older sister Joan. She grew up there until the age of 14 when she went away to boarding school in El Paso, Texas. This is why she was fluent in Spanish which she loved speaking all of her life. After High School graduation she went to Arizona State University in Tucson where she earned her BA. Upon completion of college she moved to Crescent City, CA to live with her parents. There she met her husband, Les McClure. They were married in 1951 & had their first child in 1953. They moved to Roseville in 1955 so that Les could manage the Placer County Fair. In that same year they had their second child. Also in this year Betsy met Dolly & David Fiddyment. Dolly became her life long friend. In 1961 Betsy began teaching in the Roseville City School District where she taught for 28 years. In 1963 they completed their family with their third child. In 1968 Les & Betsy divorced. Family was the most important thing to her as well as the many close friendships she developed through the years. Betsy also loved animals, especially the many dogs she owned during her life. She spent many hours playing Bridge which was her favorite past time. Betsy is survived by her three children; Mark McClure, Beth McClure Thomas & Mary Pexa. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Angelique Llanes, Danyelle deLemos, Bianca Wheeler, Mikala Henning, Zane, Ally & Mira Pexa and Leah Thomas and 9 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Betsy's honor on Monday, November 18th, 11:00 a.m. at Centerpoint Community Church in Roseville at 515 Sunrise Ave. Donations can be made to the Placer County SPCA. 150 Corporation Yard Rd., Roseville, CA 95678.
