LEWIS, Margaret Ellen,
'Miss Peggy"
June 6, 1947 - Nov. 12, 2013
Peggy was born in Salem, OR to Edward and Marian Lewis. She moved to Berkeley, CA in elementary school. She moved to Walnut Creek, CA in 1962 and graduated from Las Lomas High School in 1965. Peggy received her Masters Degree in Madrid, Spain, through Sacramento State University- Foreign Studies Program and PhD at USC. She continued living in Madrid and taught for 5 years. Peggy spent the last 25 years of her career teaching inmates in the Sacramento County Jail. She retired and returned to Spain to fulfill her dream of owning a condo overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. She was living her dream when she had a stroke. Her family brought her home and cared for her.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Lewis. She is survived by her father Edward Lewis, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Bill Trowsdale, and brother Glenn Lewis. She was a loving aunt to 4 and a great-aunt to many. Peggy will be missed by her family and friends, but is alive in the arms of Jesus!
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Antioch Church on The Rock, 50 Walton Lane, on Thursday, November 21 at 2:00 PM.
