BROWN, ARTHUR WILLIAM Born March 16, 1929, and passed away January 18, 2014, in Sacramento, California, a victim of Parkinson's Disease. Art grew up in Walnut Grove in the Sacramento River Delta. He is survived byJean Helmke Brown, his loving wife of 62 years, his daughter Marjorie Dunn, and grandson Patrick Arthur Dunn of Stockton andbrother Dr. Thomas A. Brown (Joyce) of Williamsburg, VA. Predeceasing him were his son William A. (Bill) Brown, son in law Philip Dunn, parents Myron M. and Helen Cole Brown, grandparents Arthur and Amy Dye Brown and great grandfather Alex Brown (Kate Stanford). Art attended Delta schools and Stanford University, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity and earned a Block S in swimming. Upon graduation he married Stanford classmate Jean Helmke. After serving with the Eleventh Airborne Division in the Korean War he returned to Walnut Grove where he raised his family, was a partner in Brown & Meyer Insurance Co, a board member of The Bank of Alex Brown, an elder in the Walnut Grove Community Presbyterian Church and an active member in The Walnut Grove Rotary Club. Art was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America. An eagle scout, He was awarded the Silver Beaver and later he served on the Golden Empire Council. Art and Jean moved to Sacramento in l984 where he joined East Sacramento Rotary and received the Paul Harris Award. Art dearly loved his family and friends and added great humor to many gatherings. His interests included all sports, especially hunting and fishing. A Memorial Service will be held at River's Edge Senior Community at 2:30, in the afternoon, on Thursday, January 30. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stockton home of his daughter at noon on Sunday, March 16.
