Born Mary Louise Millizen on September 11, 1927 in Champaign, Illinois; died February 23, 2014 in Sacramento, CA. She was married for 45 years to the late Robley D. Evans, MD; and was the beloved and loving mother of 5 children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. She attended the University of Illinois, and worked to put her husband through medical school. She had a lifelong interest in politics and was a member of the League of Women Voters for many years; and with her husband and children camped in many of our national parks. Survived by her daughter Barbara Evans, her devoted caregiver; daughter Laura Evans Whittle and granddaughter Sara D'Arco Jensen, and great-grandson Atticus David Jensen;son Roger Evans and grandchildren Matthew and Melissa Evans; son Richard Evans; and son Andrew Evans, Carol Faxon Evans, and grandchildren Bryan and Alison Evans. She is also survived by her sister Marion Johnson of Plymouth, Minnesota, and her nieces Pamela Vande Vegte and Emmy Johnson. She will be privately interred with her husband at Golden Gate National Cemetery. "Beauty, strength, youth, are flowers but fading seen; Duty, faith, love are roots, and ever green."
