Wm Bruce Blake, age 79, passed away on April 6, 2014. Born in Seattle, Wa., he spent his childhood on Queen Anne Hill. He is survived by Audrey, his wife of 43 years, children, K.C. Blake and Polly Butler, granddaughter, Stephanie Butler, brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Marilyn Blake of Seattle and Gary and Jan Blake of Driggs, Idaho. As an Eagle Scout, Bruce was active in mountain climbing and long distance swimming. When he joined the Navy in 1956 he became a member of the Underwater demolition team serving in the Pacific. His love of adventure led him into the National Ski Patrol, where he became the Regional Director of the Lake Tahoe area. He was appointed as a Senior U.S. Representative to the 1984 European Patrol Seminar. Bruce enjoyed a successful career as a Regional Sales and Central Division Manager in the wholesale meat industry. He became an owner and manager of the Swiss Lakewood Continental restaurant in the Lake Tahoe Homewood area, where he skied until his retirement. Golf was important to Bruce. He became a member of North Ridge Country Club and enjoyed many years of active participation. Upon his last visit to the Philippines in 2011, Bruce was certified as a Datu King in recognition of over 10 years of support in protecting the culture and helping to develop the capabilities of the Manobo Tribe on the island of Mindanao. Bruce, with his quick wit and dry sense of humor was loved by all.A celebration of his life will be held at a later time. Bruce will be missed.
