Methven-Gordon L. Brown

1969 - 2016

Born July 1, 1969 in Johannesburg, South Africa, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20, 2016 at the age of 47. He was the loving and adoring husband to Janine (Caspersen) Brown and doting father to their sons. Forever remembered by his father, Dr. Ernest Brown, brother Marlin and 3 sisters, Esther, Mildred and Sharon and a host of loving nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by mother and brother, Maureen and Peter. He was an eighteen year veteran with the Sacramento County Probation Department. He worked as a Deputy Probation Officer and spent his career working with the young people in our community. Methven enjoyed all sports, but he loved soccer most of all. He played at Cosumnes River College and went on to play with several adult teams in the area. He enjoyed coaching the freshman girls at El Camino High School, but he especially loved coaching his sons and their teammates. He also loved tennis, swimming and camping. He will always beremembered for his great humor, contagious smile and genuine concern for others. A viewing will be held Thursday August 4, 2016 from 4-7 at Lind Brothers Funeral Home located at 4221 Manzanita Ave. Carmichael. Methven's Memorial Service will be held at Arcade Church on August 5, 2016 at 1p.m. The church is located at 3927 Marconi Avenue, Sacramento. A reception will follow on site. To honor Methven, and in lieu of flowers, a trust, The Methven Brown Trust Fund, has been set up at Banner Bank, located at 1750 Howe Ave. Suite 100, Sacramento, CA 95825.
