Robert J. Nowak

Of Saginaw, age 87, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas. The memorial service will take place 11:00am, Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Robert's family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the American Red Cross or a charity of choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert was born July 25, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Stephanne Nowak. He married Arlene Woodhull sadly she preceded him in death December 20, 2000. Robert graduated from Vassar High School Class of 1943. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Atlantic, Pacific and China Seas on the USS Hambleton DD455 DMS20. He worked in the trucking industry for 37 years with Nowak Trucking and then Maiers Freight and was a honorary member of Knights of Columbus #4243 in Saginaw. Left to cherish his memory, cousins, George and wife, Doreen Johnson, Don and wife, Mona Lawerence, Bill and wife, Carol Nason, Yvonne and husband, Mike Szagesh, Barbara Gamet, Katherine Merry and Pauline Sonderhouse; neighbors, Dick and wife, Sandra Morford, Tom and wife, Sue Riffel and Norman and wife, Linda Sullivan; special family friends, Barbara Nothelfer and Mark Sullivan.
