SALAMANCA – Mary L. Granger, 80, of Salamanca, died Sunday morning (Jan. 27, 2013), at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo.
Born Dec. 26, 1932, in Kane, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Reed) Anderson.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a medical secretary at Dr. Kothari's office in Olean. She had been previously employed as the Manager of Medical Records, a lab technician and a Certified Medical Records Transcriptionist A.R.T. at the former Salamanca District Hospital.
Ms. Granger was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church where she was the organist and the Order of the Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter 162 in Salamanca. She enjoyed mowing her lawn with her John Deere and took great pride in maintaining her property.
Surviving are: two sons, Dale Granger of Roselle, Ill. and Russell (Lari) Granger of Hickory, N.C.; a daughter, Wendy (Jay) Jewell of Elizabethtown, Pa.; four grandchildren, C.J. Jewell of Collinswood, N.J., Lucas Jewell of Elizabethtown, Pa., Erica (Rick) Heipertz of Silver Springs, Md. and Mitchell Granger of Hickory, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Ella Heipertz of Silver Springs, Md.
A Celebration of Life was held Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2013), at 11 a.m. in the United Congregational Methodist Church, Salamanca, with Rev. Willis Webb officiating.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke, Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Salamanca Historical Society, 125 Main St., Salamanca, N.Y. 14779.
