Randolph - Mary L. Shipherd, 82, of Church Street, passed away Saturday (Oct. 5, 2013), in WCA Hospital.
She was born Nov. 17, 1930, in Corydon, Pa., the daughter of the late Richard and Clara (Sopak) Newark.
Mrs. Shipherd was a 1948 graduate of Randolph Central School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Randolph United Presbyterian Church, Randolph Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and Randolph Grange. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, playing cards and watching her grandchildren play sports.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Charlene) Shipherd, of Rochester, and Robert (Sheila) Shipherd, of Randolph; a daughter, Betty
(James) Fowler, of Hamlin; a son-in-law, Randel Goff, of Randolph; nine grandchildren, Matthew Shipherd, Joseph Fowler, Melissa
Marquardt, Todd Fowler, Michelle Shipherd, Jessica Goff, Daniel Goff, Alex Shipherd and Ryan Shipherd; as well as five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shipherd was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Herbert Shipherd, whom she married on June 3, 1949, and who predeceased her on March 30, 1989; and a daughter, Linda Goff on January 11, 2011.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday (Oct.10, 2013), in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday (Oct. 11, 2013), with Rev. Leslie Latham officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
