William D. "Uncle Bill" Ferguson(1923 - 2013)

SALAMANCA – William D. Ferguson, "Uncle Bill," 89, of Salamanca, passed joyfully into the Presence of His Lord & Savior on Sunday (Feb. 17, 2013), at the Bradford Manor in Bradford, Pa.
Born on Nov. 30, 1923, in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of the late John and Jean (Dunsire) Ferguson. They immigrated to the United States in 1925. He was married on Sept. 14, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pa. to his Navy Wave bride, the former Elizabeth Orwig, who predeceased him on June 5, 2006.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a radio operator with 104th Cavalry in Central Europe and northern France during World War II. He was awarded the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Ferguson served the Lord in many different ways; Murrysville Bible Chapel, Red House Chapel, Camp Li-Lo-Li, Wholeway House, the Voice of Many Waters Radio Program, Salamanca Christian Academy, and the Salamanca Bible Chapel.
Surviving are three sons: Bill (Susan) Ferguson, Jim (Donna) Ferguson and Kirby (Andrea) Ferguson, all of Salamanca; two daughters, Cathie (Jerry) Whitcomb of Randolph and Betsy (Allan) McIntee of St. Catherines, Ontario; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Abby Ferguson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Ferguson.
Friends called at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke, Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y. on Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2013), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at a time and place to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Camp Li-Lo-Li, 8811 Sunfish Run Road, Randolph, N.Y. 14772.
