OLEAN – Mrs. Vita G. Miller, 93, died Thursday evening (Feb. 14, 2013), at Olean General Hospital. Formerly of Salamanca.
Mrs. Miller was a resident of The Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Olean for the past three years.
Born on Feb. 7, 1920, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Minneci) Cucchiaro. On April 25, 1942, in St. John's Roman Catholic Church, in Olean, she was married to John Miller, who predeceased her on Jan. 23, 2009.
Mrs. Miller was employed at the former Salamanca District Hospital for more than 20 years, retiring as a dietician.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Peace Parish in Salamanca. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and loved to collect dolls and knick knacks..
Surviving are two daughters, Christine Dunkleman of Winter Park, Fla. and Sandra Thompson of Winter Garden, Fla.; a son, John (Mary) Miller of Olean; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Walsh of Lincoln, Calif. and Josephine Bell of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a brother, Robert Cucchiaro of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Cucchiaro, Andrew Cucchiaro, Salvatore Cucchiaro and a sister, Bette Cucchiaro.
Friends called at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y. on Monday (Feb. 18, 2013), from noon - 1 p.m. at which time funeral and committal services were held with Rev. Patrick Melfi, of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Salamanca, N.Y., officiating.
Entombment was in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca.
The family suggests memorials be made to the donor's choice. Flowers are gratefully declined.
