Salamanca - Georgeann Farnham, 79, of 32 Hoy St., died Friday (Sept. 6, 2013), at the Bradford Regional Medical Center in Bradford, Pa., following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 10, 1934, in Cattaraugus, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace (Schultz) Dawson. She was married in St. Mary's Church, in Little Valley, on June 23, 1956, to Clarence Farnham who predeceased her on April 2, 1999.
She had been employed as a nurse at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, a teacher at the former St. Patrick's Elementary School, and retired from Bush Industries after 22 years of employment. While employed at Bush, she was also a school bus driver for the Little Valley School system.
She was a member of the Healing Reigns Fellowship, in Salamanca, volunteered for Head Start from 1995 -99, and was a former troop leader for Brownies and Girl Scouts. While leading her troops on a 60-mile hike, they were stopped by a tornado that hit in Conewango. She enjoyed the three trips she took to Schweinfurt, Germany.
Surviving are: three sons, Peter (Blanche) Farnham and Richard Farnham, both of Salamanca, and Christopher (Penny) Farnham, of Virginia; four daughters, Gerianne (Hassan) Boghdadi, of Salamanca, Teresa Farnham, of Brocton, Tammie Brown, of Cattaraugus, and Danielle (John) Locicero, of El Paso, Texas; 33 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Gary Lee Brown, Jr.; two brothers, James Dawson and Robert Dawson; and one sister, Jerry Cassavoy.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at the Healing Reigns Fellowship at a time to be announced. O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y. is in charge of funeral arrangements.
