John Bergin Luther
SALISBURY - John Bergin Luther, 75, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. John had been in declining health for several years.
He was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Buncombe County, one of six children of the late Harold Luther and Pauline Luther Rice.
John worked at Pike Electric as a lineman until a work-related fall prevented him from returning. He later worked for North Carolina DOT until his retirement.
An avid hunter and fisherman, John was a past president of the Eldorado Hunting Club. He enjoyed being in the woods and spending time with his hunting buddies. He shared this passion with his grandchildren, always eager to share hunting stories.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Burnice Luther.
Those left to cherish his memories are wife Clarice Hall Luther; daughters Dawn (David) Bartlett of Salisbury, Scottie (Donnie) Solomon of Linwood and Bonnie (Jake) Cauble of Salisbury; brothers David Luther of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jimmy Luther (Irene) of Fairview; sisters Mildred Collette of Enka and Cora Jane (Conley) Gillespie of Leicester; grandchildren Scott Nussman (Nan) of Waynesville, Leslie Wilson of Concord, Heather Potter of Zionville and Katy Bartlett of Statesville; step-grandchildren Susan Kolodny (Jason) of Henderson, Nev., Joe Cauble (Faren) of Florence, S.C., Tabitha Hall (Daniel) of Mocksville and Brittany Ward (Marcus) of Faith; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service: Jan. 20 2 p.m., North Main Baptist Church, 1501 N. Main St., Salisbury, NC 28144, Dr. Dale Robinson officiating. Burial: Feb. 2, Asheville, NC.
