Joe Samuel Washington
ROCKWELL - Mr. Joe Samuel Washington, 67, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at the Tucker Hospice House.
Mr. Washing-ton was born on July 28, 1945 in Iredell County. He was a son of the late Marvin James Jenkins and Gladys Powell. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School. Joe was a United States Army Vietnam veteran. He retired as a commercial electrician. Joe loved bluegrass music. He enjoyed horseback riding and constructed numerous horse drawn carriages.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Mr. Washington is survived by his wife, Joanna Arnette Washington; three children, Brett Washington of Tampa, Fla., Scott Washington of Jacksonville, Fla. and Krista Bennani of Tampa Bay, Fla.; three step-children, Robert Shipwash, Michael Shipwash and Teresa Peele, all of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Isabella and Liam Washington; and four step-grandchildren, Christopher Gann, April Shipwash, Brandon Eppinger and Lacy Kay Shipwash.
Service: A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Patti Mack will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. Military rites will be performed by the Rowan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Humane Society of Rowan County, PO Box 295, Salisbury, NC 28145.

Joe was a great man. I have known him almost my whole life and he was so kind and always smiling. He will be missed but not forgetten. I know he is In Heaven hurting no more and we will see him again. Love ya Joe!!

Very sad news of Joe's passing, known to me as a life long best friend to my brother. No doubt, Joe will be missed by many.

Krista, Brett and Scott , I've known Joe for many many years, he made me laugh so hard many time that I almost passed out... Taught me how to play the Guitar. What a great Memory,,, Will miss him greatly , My thoughts and Prayers are with you all at this time... Love you so much Uncle Bob
