I had the great good fortune of having Mrs. Patterson as a S.S. teacher when she taught in Forsyth County, Ga. I graduated in 1985 and immediately wrote to tell her how awesome she was. She sparked a life long interest in history and the way the world works. I will always remember her stating that China would give up communism eventually. She had said, "It's only been about 30 years stacked up against centuries of tradition. It won't last another ten years" I called her when China gave it up, to marvel at her astuteness. I've contacted her every few years to check in. It was getting to be about that time again when I found this. The world lost a truely devoted educator. She loved her students and I loved her. My heart is on the ground. My belated sympathies to her family.

Nancy and I were roommates in college for 3 years and became very good friends and Zeta sisters. I admired her study habits and she put up with my shenanigans such as keeping a pet rabbit in our dorm room. She was always by steadying force. Much love to Roy and Alex during this time. I will always remember her kindness, gentleness, love of life and beautiful eyes.

I agree with Debbie Nelson's post. Nancy fought the good fight. Now she is truly healed. Nancy was the strongest, lovelist woman I have known. I and her Zeta sisters were blessed to call her a sister and a friend. You and the family remain in my prayers.

When I think of Nancy I think of 2nd Timothy 4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Her endurance was amazing and I will always remember her as one of the nicest people I ever knew. In Zeta Love, Debbie Nelson

Nancy's wisdom and love for teaching will live on forever in the minds and spirits of her students and colleagues. Her quick wit and view on life always helped put matters into perspective. Her strength and courage through her illness should give us the will to have strength for her family through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with the Patterson family. I will miss seeing Roy, Alex, and Shelly pick Nancy up from school.
