A. Ray Corriher
SALISBURY - A. Ray Corriher, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.
He was born in Iredell County March 20, 1943, the son of the late A. Ray Corriher Sr. and Elizabeth Thompson Corriher.
Mr. Corriher was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force
, graduated from Boyden High School (1961) and High Point University (1969), and attended the MBA program at Wake Forest University. During his working career he was employed by Western Electric Company and AT&T for 30 years.
During his life, he had enjoyed Toastmasters, fishing, golf and family. He maintained a special bond with Winston-Salem Enrichment Center and its founding for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Corriher was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Lynn English.
He is survived by a daughter, Caroline C. Stresemann (Doug) of Raleigh; son Matthew Corriher, of Winston-Salem; very special friend Patricia Weddington of Salisbury; sister Carol C. Walker (Jerry) of Montrose, Mich.; brother Randy Corriher (Sarah) of Durham; brother-in-law Gary English of Evansville, Ind.; nieces Martha Hunter (Brendan), Alison Marshall (Kyle) and Angela Stepro (Adam); nephews Michael Smith (Whitney) and Benjamin Archangeli; and numerous cousins and extended family.
Mr. Corriher was a lifelong Moravian and Lutheran church member.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at Haven Lutheran Church, 207 W. Harrison St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Memorial Service: 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at Haven Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ed Harper officiating.
Burial: 10 a.m. Friday, March 21 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144, with military honors by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Hospice Foundation, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; or Haven Lutheran Church, 207 W. Harrison St., Salisbury, NC.
