Arthur 'Buddy' Lee Copley

MOORESVILLE - Arthur "Buddy" Lee Copley, 70, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born Aug. 31, 1942 in Rowan County, to the late Lee Eston and Elizabeth Heilig Copley. Mr. Copley was a United States Army veteran and retired from Marshall Steam Station after 25 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mooresville and of the American Legion. He was formerly a member of the Jaycee's and Mooresville Civitan Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Wilkerson.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Johnson Copley; children, Arthur "Artie" Copley, Jr., Karen Poole and husband Scott, all of Mooresville; sisters, Martha Ellen Scruggs and husband Lyle of Mooresville, Annie Lee Kluttz and husband Norman of Raleigh, Aggie Faye Peninger and husband Michael of Salisbury and Catherine Sue Joyner of Salisbury; grandchildren, Dustin Poole and Rebekah Copley; special nephew, Derek Schaun Gaddy; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Service and Visitation:A graveside service will be held at 2p.m. Friday, July 26 at Salisbury National Cemetery with Rev. Johnny C. Cozart officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
