SALISBURY - Carl Cribb, 81, of Salisbury, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Red Springs to the late Edwin Cribb and Ida Cribb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Phillip Scott Cribb; and sister Shirley Simerson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Roxy Cribb; daughter Carla Brown and husband Joe of Wilmington; son Steve Cribb and wife Karen of Wilmington and son Kurt Cribb; brother Edward Cribb and wife Andrea; sister Ann Wright, both of Pawleys Island, S.C.; as well as five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Carl graduated from Red Springs High School, where he lettered in baseball, football and basketball. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Navy
for four years and then and 16 additional years in the U.S. Air Force.
After serving his country, Carl earned an Associate of Science degree from Grayson County College in Sherman, Texas. While attending college, Carl worked for GTE, where he retired after 20 years in Dallas, Texas. Carl was a devoted Christian, patriot, husband, father and brother.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Rowan Christian Assembly, 923 N. Salisbury Ave. G.Q., Salisbury, NC 28146.
