Charles Greer Jr.

SALISBURY - Mr. Charles Greer Jr., age 81, of Lash Drive, passed Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at W.G. "Bill" Hefner Medical Center.

He was born March 19, 1931, in Salisbury to the late Charles and Mamie Linder Greer Sr. He was a graduate of J.C. Price High School and attended Livingstone College.

Mr. Greer was employed at W.G. "Bill" Hefner V.A. Medical Center. A member of Boxwood Baptist Church, Mocksville, he served with the Deacon's Ministry, Sunday School teacher, Pastor's Aide, Usher's Ministry and Combined Choir.

He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

A son, Robert Pulliam; a brother, Leroy Greer; a sister, Carolyn Greer; and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Doris H. Greer of the home; son Johnny Woods, Salisbury; daughters Matress Savage (Ricky) and Becky Miree, both of Salisbury; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. and visitation at 2:30 p.m. at Boxwood Baptist Church, Mocksville, with the pastor, Rev. Gary Milton, officiating and Rev. Arthur Heggins as Eulogist. Burial with Military Rites will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the U.S. National Cemetery.
