Della Mae Trimiar Jones
MOCKSVILLE - Della Mae Trimiar Jones, 79, of Mocksville, went to her eternal rest on May 14, 2013, at her residence.
She was born April 30, 1934, in Homer, Ga., to the late Maude Trimiar and Odell Faulkner. A 1953 graduate of Davie County Training School, Mrs. Jones retired from Burlington Industries and had numerous jobs throughout her lifetime.
She was a dedicated, lifelong member of Erwin Temple CME Church, where she served faithfully on the Stewardess Board, Missionary Board, Pastor's Aide, Flower Committee and Usher Board. She was well-known for her eloquent speaking.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Jones will be remembered for her driving back and forth to downtown Cooleemee, KFC and her green thumb to grow enormous elephant ears, and her gorgeous sunflowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Deacon Eugene Jones Jr.; one sister, Claudine Trimiar; and a special cousin, George Trimiar.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Sanford (Donna) Jones of Advance and Eugene (Sheena) Jones of Salisbury; four daughters, Marilyn (John) Gaither of Statesville, Cheryl Melton of Mocksville, Sylvia Brown and Linda (Gerry) Sifford, both of Salisbury; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. She also had adopted three daughters, Kathy Brown of Atlanta, Ga., Minnie Ruth Ijames-Scott of Winston-Salem and Teresa Johnson of Mocksville.
Service and Visitation: Services include family visitation 1:30-2 p.m. and funeral at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Erwin Temple CME Church in Woodleaf. Rev. Calvin Smith will officiate and burial will follow in Boxwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Mocksville.
