GOLD HILL - Mrs. Donna Janelle Elkins, 67, formerly of Oceana, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast in Concord surrounded by family.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1946, in Brooklyn, W.Va., to the late Billy and Agnes Lambert of Turkey Dip, W.Va. Mrs. Elkins was a 1963 graduate of Oceana High School.

She retired from AT&T and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed flowers, gardening and loved her little dog Yoni. She also loved to write songs and poetry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Russell Elkins; and brothers Buck Lambert and Bill Lambert.

Mrs. Elkins is survived by her husband Larry Russell Elkins; son Larry Elkins Jr. "Skip" and wife Sheila of Salisbury; daughter Shannon Foster and husband Errol of Bolt, W.Va.; brother Greg Lambert and wife Caryn of Glen Fork, W.Va., and Julius Lambert and wife Karen of Garrett, N.D.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Buddy Hoffner, pastor of Bible Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Powles Funeral Home.
