Gary L. Hathaway

SALISBURY - Gary Lee Hathaway, 64, of Salisbury, passed away Dec. 6, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

Mr. Hathaway was born May 6, 1948, in Springfield, Mo., to the late Norval Hathaway and Helen Saltkill. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mailman.

Gary Lee Hathaway proudly served his country as a United States Marine in Vietnam and the Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Action Ribbon for his brave service.

Gary enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, spending time outdoors and spending time with his family.

In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Hathaway II.

Mr. Hathaway is survived by his wife, Carol Leach Hathaway; a son, Gary Wayne Hathaway of the home; daughters Dawn Marie Hathaway Wray and April Leona Hathaway Lyle, both of Oregon; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Service: A Memorial Service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina Cremation.
