James 'Brantly' Beaver

ROCKWELL - Mr. James "Brantly" Beaver, 90, of Rockwell, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

He was born May 31, 1924 in Rowan County to the late Homer and Mary Goodman Beaver.

Brantly attended Rockwell High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring in February 1970 after 20 years of service to his country. He then worked as an assistant manager for Sky City in Salisbury.

Brantly was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell. He loved playing golf and taking care of his animals. Brantly enjoyed collecting memorabilia to decorate his Navy Room and Cowboy Room.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Alexander "Jimmy" Beaver; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Lucille Beaver; and sister and brother-in-law, Velna and Floyd Brown.

Brantly is survived by his wife, whom he married Aug. 17, 1946, Mrs. Lois Fesperman Beaver; daughter Andrea "Kim" Beaver of Rockwell; two nieces, Barbara Young and husband, Bob, and Sandra Mills and husband, R.L. and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Services: The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell, conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rowan County Honor Guard.
