James 'Lance' Kimrey

ROCKWELL - James "Lance" Kimrey, 54, of Rockwell, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his home. His death was unexpected.

Lance was born Aug. 21, 1958, in Stanly County, a son of the late John D. and Marion Chivers Kimrey. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

Lance was previously employed with Metal Forge of Albemarle and then Philip Morris, until it closed. Lance loved participating in all of his children's sporting events and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Maria G. Kimrey; his daughter, Montana Kimrey; his son, Matthew Kimrey; and his stepson, Dillon Bentley, all of the family home; his sister, Susan Bennett, and brother John D. Kimrey Jr., both of Kannapolis, his brother, Ty Kimrey of Marshville; and his mother and father-in-law, Ed and Shirley Grass of Kannapolis.

Service and Visitation: His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis with Rev. Jim Brookshire officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 110 W. "C" St. Kannapolis, NC 28081.
