James 'Pete' Brower Jr.
SALISBURY - James Henry "Pete" Brower Jr., 90, formerly of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his daughter's residence.
He was born, May 29, 1922, in Anson County, the son of the late James Henry Brower Sr. and Lucetta Meeks Brower. Educated in the Rowan County school system, Pete was a veteran
of the U.S. Army
Air Corps, serving during World War II
as a bomber pilot.
Pete retired as a manager for The Merita Bread Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Fulton Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Coble Brower; daughter Lybby Brown; grandson Kevin James Brower; and son-in-law Sidney Chillcott.
Those left to cherish his memories are son Jim Brower (Karen) of Charlotte; daughter Bunny Chillcott of China Grove; former son-in-law George Wayne Brown of Spencer; grandchildren Wendy Brower Paden (Johnny) of Charlotte, Jimmy Chillcott (Stacy) of Willow Spring and Lauren Brown of Spencer; great-grandchildren Riley Anne Paden, Curtis Beck, Bella Anne Paden and Savannah Lynn Chillcott.
Visitation: 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., Wednesday, April 3 at First Baptist Church Salisbury, 223 N. Fulton St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Service: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at First Baptist Church Salisbury conducted by Rev. Kenneth Lance with burial to follow at Rowan Memorial Park. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
