John W. Lambe
SALISBURY - John W. Lambe, 78, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Rowan County, the son of the late John Malcolm Lambe (7-28-1962) and Mary Hedrick Lambe (11-29-03).
Mr. Lambe graduated from Spencer High School on May 26, 1953, and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy
from 1953-1957. He graduated from Salisbury Business College March 9, 1962.
He worked for Sunbeam Bread and Owens Illinois; and after 15 years of service at Duke Power Buck Steam Plant, where he was a Control Operator, he took early retirement on June 30, 1984.
He was of the Baptist faith. John loved the outdoors and history. His hobbies were making walking canes, collecting old bottles and arrowheads.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Kathleen Curlee Lambe (9-4-98); daughter Anita Caroline Lambe (10-24-07); brothers James Sherwood Lambe (12-4-93) and Fred Eugene Lambe (5-27-00).
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters Cynthia "Cindy" Trexler (Audie) of Salisbury, Teresa Knight (companion Johnny Hearne) of Salisbury, Bonita Queen of Salisbury, Melissa Kimball of Southern Pines and Loretta Evans (Allen) of Salisbury; brothers Paul Lambe (Kay) and Ralph Lambe; sisters Evelyn Jacobs, Ruth Fisher (Jack) and Louise Nicholas, all of Salisbury; grandchildren Christina, Crystal, Nicholas, Shelly, Cody, Matthew, Amanda and Dillon; great-grandchildren Ashley, Caleb and Autumn.
Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 17 at Rugged Cross Church (in the Old Dukeville School), 185 Dukeville Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Rugged Cross Church (in the Old Dukeville School) 185 Dukeville Road, Salisbury, NC 28146, with Preacher Steve Holshouser officiating.
Entombment: Will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military rites conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
