KANNAPOLIS - Kenneth M. Rimmer, loving husband and father, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24th at his home.

On Jan. 20, 1943, he was inducted into the United States Army Air Corps. During the war, he served with the military police in several areas of the country including Texas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Florida. While in the military, he took a special interest in marksmanship and was honored with several awards for his expertise in the field.

On July 15th, 1944, Kenneth married the love of his life, Elizabeth Juanita Rimmer. After 69 wonderful years of marriage, Juanita preceded him in death on Sept. 11th, 2012.

After his retirement in 1987, Mr. Rimmer enjoyed staying busy. He worked on projects both around the house and at his beach property where he and Juanita spent their spare time.

A "numbers man" at heart, he kept himself occupied with all things related to finance. He loved following the daily stock reports, recording payroll for Juanita's Beauty Shop and doing tax returns for others well into his later life. He also enjoyed spoiling his family as well as his cats and dogs and working in the yard maintaining his garden.

One of Kenneth's passions was music; he learned to play the guitar at age eight, and by the age of thirteen he was being paid to play professionally on the local radio station. He continued to play both solo and with various bands throughout his life.

During his lifetime, Kenneth was also a faithful member of Centerview Baptist Church. He served on several committees including the Finance Committee and Counting Committee. He was also an usher for the church and secretary for the adult Sunday school class for twenty years.
