Larry Ivan Thies

MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Larry Ivan Thies, 68, of Gladstone Road, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1944, in Davidson County, Tenn., to the late Robert Fay and Ruby Moody Thies. Mr. Thies was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed playing softball, camping and boating. His favorite pastimes were watching Westerns and spending time with his grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Robert Thies.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betty Sue Reavis Thies of the home; sons Larry Ivan Thies II (Michele) and Robbie Thies (Elizabeth), all of Mocksville; grandsons Aaron and Austin Thies; special godchild Taylor Hawks; brother Kenneth Thies (Rachel) of Salisbury; nephews and niece Matt and Mark Thies and James and Cindy Thies; and special dog Rocky.

Service: A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, at Liberty United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Cunningham and Mr. Richard Card officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Eaton Funeral Home.
