SUNSET BEACH - Lennie Graham Crews, 79, of Sunset Beach, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at New Hanover Medical Center, Wilmington.

He was born, April 28, 1933, in Roxboro, a son of the late Garland Mason Crews Sr. and Kate Lunsford.

Lennie was a graduate of Person County Schools and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lennie retired from the Department of Agriculture, where he was a tobacco grader.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish his memories are wife Sally Wilson Crews; son Blake Crews of Durham; daughters Leta (Jeff) Laugle of Virginia Beach, Susan (Bill) Jackson of Wilmington and Patti (Brent) Lyerly of Salisbury; brother Ross "Bud" (Ann) Crews and sisters-in-law Nancy Crews and Dott Crews, all of Roxboro; grandchildren Andy Jackson and Anne Marie Jackson; and great-grandchildren Skyler, Jayden and Rayland.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Pleasant Grove Church, 2154 Grove Church Road, Halifax, Va.

Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Pleasant Grove Church with the Rev. Jonathan Turner and the Rev. Cynthia Terry officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
