Mary Sechler Freeze

CHINA GROVE - Mrs. Mary Sechler Freeze, 92, of China Grove, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Liberty Commons Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Calvin B. and Carrie Fleming Sechler.

Educated at Deaton School, she was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. She was a seamstress and enjoyed basket weaving and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Walter Ray Freeze, on June 19, 2010; sisters Myrtle Barnhardt, Ethel Jackson and Claire Sloop; brothers Roy, Marvin, George and Duard Sechler.

Those left to cherish her memory are son Jerry Freeze (Donna); daughters Shelia Nance (Ron) and Wanda Corriher (Frank); brothers John, Floyd and Hugh Sechler; sister Ruth Speck; grandchildren Bryan Freeze (Lee Ann), Wendy Hartsell (Tim), Aaron Nance (Ethne), Andy Corriher (Rebecca), Phillip Corriher (Nicole), Laura Holshouser (Andrew); great-grandchildren Kate Hartsell, Garrett Williams, Dylan Nance and Logan Nance.

Visitation and Services: Visitation is Tuesday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m.-12 noon at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ with the funeral at noon, also at the church, with Rev. Mark Burns, minister. Burial follows at Greenlawn Cemetery. All other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Shelia Nance, 2620 Lipe Road, China Grove, NC 28023.

Memorials: May be made to Mount Zion United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1298, China Grove, NC 28023.

The family of Mary would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the members of Mount Zion, Hospice of Rowan, the staff of Liberty Commons and everyone for their thoughts, prayers and all other expressions of love toward the family during this time.
