Mattie Lathan Bagley
CHARLOTTE -Mattie Lathan Bagley, age 93, of Candor, formerly of Charlotte, died Monday, January 28, 2008.
Born April 30, 1914, in Fairfield County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late W.W. Lathan and Irene McElduff Lathan. Mrs. Bagley retired as a cafeteria worker of the Mecklenburg County Schools after 15 years of service.
She was a member of the Grandmothers' Association of Charlotte and attended Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Bagley and his wife, Linda, of Mt. Gilead; three daughters, Rebecca Gibbs and her husband, Charlie, of Jackson Springs, Rita Majetich and her husband, John, of Rockwell and Cathy Thompson of Floral City, Fla.; a sister, Amelia Killian of Mt. Holly; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bagley was preceded in death by her husband, John Charlton Bagley; a daughter, Rhea Coley; two stepsons, Harvey Bagley and Walter Bagley; a step daughter, Marilyn Wilder; a son-in-law, Michael Thompson; three brothers, William Lathan, Robert Lathan and Coleman Lathan; and four sisters, Mamie Moore, Sara Lathan, Myrtle Baker and Josephine Helms.
Service: The service to celebrate the life of Mattie Lathan Bagley was held 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. Burial was private.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Family Crisis Council of the donor's choice.
McEwen-Mint Hill Chapel served the Bagley family.
