Max J. Wirz

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Max John Wirz, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, in Myrtle Beach, where he resided with his daughter. Max formerly lived in Gold Hill, N.C.

Max was born April 13, 1923, in New York. He was married to Eunice who preceded him in death in 1988. He was a veteran of World War II, serving the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific theatre.

Max spent many years working in the textile industry. After retiring, he was very active in the Lion's Club, taking a special interest in the guide dog program.

Surviving are his daughters, Cheryl Brazda (Ron), Susan Laney (Lany) and Linda McCoy (Bruce); his sons, John Wirz (Alice), Richard Wirz (Cathy) and Wayne Wirz (Gina); his brother-in-law Walter Zweig; and two nephews, Robert and Doug Zweig. Max had 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with another on the way.

The Grand Strand Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
