Thomas 'Mike' Combs
KANNAPOLIS - Thomas Michael "Mike" Combs, 58, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast after a period of declining health.
Mike was born June 17, 1956 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Tommy and Maggie Bullard Combs. He was a life-long area resident and graduated from A. L. Brown High School, class of 1974. Mike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps
, during the end of the Vietnam War
Era. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter
and was a 15+ year veteran of the police force in Kannapolis, Concord and China Grove. Mike was currently a Captain on the Speedway Security Force. He also was a forklift operator at Yellow Roadway Corporation. Mike was actively attending Truth Temple with his family. He loved the outdoors, laughing with grandchildren, cooking and entertaining and camping with his family and friends. Mike touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by infant twins, Michael Austin and Melissa Ann.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty Jo Jenkins Combs of the home; daughter, Amanda Combs Parker (Chad) of Salisbury; step-children, Tara and Gregory Livengood, both of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Emma, Benjamin, Eli, River, Bella and Gracie; two sisters, Diane Lambert (Wayne) of Salisbury and Debbie Robinson (David) of Kannapolis; his close cousin, Dennis Miller of Kannapolis and many other loving relatives.
Visitation and Services: A Celebration of life with Christ service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 at Truth Temple with Pastors Bryn Waddell and Wayne Miller officiating. Private interment will occur later. The family will receive friends at Truth Temple from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to the memorial service.
