SALISBURY - Mr. Walter Francis Thomson, 85, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 9, 1927 in Freehold, N.J. to the late Alvin LaMay Thomson and Walter F. Thomson, he was educated in Freehold, New Jersey schools and graduated from Freehold Regional High School. Mr. Thomson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a self employed carpenter for 45 years before retiring.

Mr. Thomson was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks in Freehold, New Jersey. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Anna DeMeo Thomson whom he married June 9, 1951; son, Glenn Thomson and wife Ann of Salisbury; brothers, Gene Thomson of Fla. and Paul Thomson of Lakewood, N.J.; granddaughter, Erin Thomson of Bluffton, S.C. and grandson, Ryan Thomson and wife Ashley of Statesville.

Visitation: A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Summersett Memorial Chapel with a visitation following until 8 p.m.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Jason Barone. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 375 Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury, NC 28147.
