SALISBURY - Charles L. Earley, 78, of Salisbury, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
Born on June 25, 1934 in Kannapolis, he was the son of the late Charlie L. and Emma Dayvault Earley.
He attended A.L. Brown High School. Mr. Earley served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was a member of the Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post 342.
Mr. Earley worked for Thomas & Howard Grocery for 27 years and later worked for Carolina Freight and ABF Freight Lines before retiring.
A member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury, he was also an active member in the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing at the Outer Banks, gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Walter, Bill, and George Earley and sisters, Della Litaker and Mary Price.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Page Earley; son, Charles David Earley (Karen); grandson, Liam and granddaughter, Lauren of Durham. Also surviving are brothers, Joe (Margaret) of Landis and Gene (Maxine) of Naples, Fla.; sister, Voida Hilton of Apex; sister-in-law, Katherine Earley of Kannapolis; a number of nieces and a nephew, as well as good friends and fishing buddies.
Visitation and Services: The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Summersett Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gene Edwards minister of Genesis Baptist Church, China Grove, officiating.
