Clifford Andrew Shoemaker, 87, of Cleveland, went home to be with Jesus, his Savior, on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Novant Health – Forsyth Medical Center. Born in Rowan County on Nov. 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Henry Arthur Shoemaker and Annie Amanda Atwell Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker worked for 18 years as a Service Manager at Mooresville Ford and for Southern States Feed Mill for 16 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church, where he served as a former Deacon; was a member of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class and directed the church choir for 54 years. Clifford had a passion for bluegrass music, antiques and old cars. He was incredibly innovated and a master whittler. He loved his family, and was very proud of his sons, Larry and Jimmy. In addition to his parents, Clifford was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Graham Shoemaker; five brothers, Billy Shoemaker, Howard Shoemaker, Frank Shoemaker, Lester Shoemaker, and Kelly Shoemaker; and two sisters, Thelma Lambe and Annie Parks. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Larry A. Shoemaker (Martha) and Jimmy D. Shoemaker (Tamara); three grandchildren, Chasity Shoemaker, Jessica Shoemaker and Rachel Jarmen (Blake); two great-grandchildren, Robbie and Lance; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, June 14, from 2-3 p.m., at Cleveland First Baptist Church. Service: The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Rev. Kestler Ruth and Rev. Glenn Dancy officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Town Cemetery. Memorials: Memorial donations may be made in Clifford's memory to Cleveland First Baptist Church P.O.
