CLEVELAND - Clyde Stickley "Stick" Waller Jr., 65, of Cleveland, passed away on March 13, 2013, in Newark, N.J., where he was doing what he loved, building power plants.
Born March 24, 1947, in Rowan County to the late Evelyn Turnage Waller and Clyde S. Waller Sr., he will always be remembered as a pillar of the community, always doing what he could to inspire the people around him and make everyone's happiness and security his personal responsibility.
Stick served his country as a United States Marine in Vietnam. He also held leadership roles in too many community organizations to name.
Throughout his life, Stick Waller touched many lives and was always quick to take on the burdens for others so that they would not have to. He enjoyed his family, his friends and the relationships that everyone around him cherished.
He always took pride in everything he did and took every opportunity to make the world a better place.
He is survived by his wife Delores; his two sons, Dustin and Trey; and three grandchildren who he adored.
Service: Graveside service with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 18 at the US National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location with Rev. Carroll Robinson officiating.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
