CHINA GROVE - David Dean Stamper, 65, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 12, 2012 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, following a period of declining health.
Born in Wilkesboro, NC, on Sept. 10, 1947, he was a son of the late James Earl and Thelma Blanche Osborne Stamper. Mr. Stamper had worked for China Grove Cotton Mill and was a member of China Grove Church of God. David loved all of his family, his Ford Mustang, NASCAR and was a Wake Forest fan. He had also coached little league baseball and was coach of the 1986 Rowan County Little League All Star champion team.
In addition to his parents, his step-father, Cecil Kluttz and a brother, Gary Stamper, preceded him in death.
Family members left with cherished memories include his son, David J. Stamper, of China Grove; his daughter, Sherry Stamper Furr of Kannapolis; his brother, Dan Stamper, China Grove; sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Shepherd of Landis and Betty Felts, of Wilkesboro; his grandsons, Jason and Jonathan Deaton; a half brother; two step-brothers and five step-sisters.
Visitation and Services: The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. A funeral service to remember and celebrate David's life will begin at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.
