David Lewis Wood

SALISBURY - Mr. David Lewis Wood, 54, of Messner Street, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 25, 1958, in Iredell County to Margie Marie Hargrave of Salisbury and Ralph David Wood (Minnie) of Statesville.

A graduate of Statesville Senior High School, Mr. Wood was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by the Rowan County Housing Authority.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jean Stevenson.

Mr. Wood is survived by his fiancee, Floydrella Smith, Mocksville; sons Demario Whisonant, Demetres Whisonant, Tykilius Whisonant, Damon Wood, Lamont Summers, Kendrick Bowman and Jamarius Washington; daughters Jasmine Whisonant, Davana Wood, Latoya Wilson, April Wood, Essence Crevecoeur and Talayah Washington; brothers Ralph (Kim) Wood Jr., Statesville, Jeffery (Ann) Wood, Salisbury, Ezekiel (Krissy) Wood, Statesville, John Wood; Statesville, Samuel (Michelle) White, Statesville, Eric Wyatt, Winston-Salem; sisters Marie Ijames, Statesville, Priscilla Wood; Thomasville, Tandra (Bradley) White, Salisbury; Shannon (Melvin) Simpson, Statesville, Tewanda (Robert) Rodriguez, Statesville, Ericka White, Statesville; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: 1 p.m. Saturday in A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel of Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home Inc.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel of Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home Inc. Pastor Minnie Wood officiating and Bishop Ralph Wood, Sr. Eulogist

Burial: 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard Military Honors will be by the Rowan Honor Guard.

The family will be at the home on 309 Messner Street the remainder of the time.
