Donald 'Don' Anderson

KANNAPOLIS - Donald "Don" William Anderson, age 75, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, from his home after a period of declining health.

Don was born Oct. 29, 1939, in Mooresville, a son of the late Fred W. and Margaret Sigmon Anderson. He was a lifelong area resident and graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Don worked for many years for McLean Trucking and then was a maintenance engineer for the Hilton Hotel - University Place, until retiring in 2003.

He was a lifelong member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. He loved spending time at their beach home and talking with his friends, which included anyone he ever met. Don was a "Jack of all Trades" and enjoyed fixing things or creating things to help others.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a nephew, Steven Anderson.

Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Gail" Little Anderson of the family home; his daughter, Dr. Donna Gail Anderson Cole (Dr. David Michael Cole) of Waxhaw; his granddaughters, Mary Grace Elizabeth Cole and Eva Rose Caroline Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Steven Anderson (Sylvia), and his nephew, Todd Anderson, both of Kannapolis.

His funeral was Sunday, Nov. 30 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Thomas and Rev. Scott Swix officiating. Burial followed at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation was prior to the funeral.
