Henry N. Adkins Sr.

EAST SPENCER - Bishop Henry Nathaniel Adkins Sr., age 83, of East Earnhart Street, passed Tuesday,k Nov. 13, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born Sept.15, 1929, in Catawba County, the son of the late William and Isebeel Colter Adkins. He attended the public schools of Catawba County and retired from Power Curbers as a supervisor.

He was founder, Bishop and Pastor of Community Holiness Church of God.

Survivors are his wife, Jean Deloris Propst Adkins of the home; sons John R. Adkins Sr. (Eloise) and Henry N. Adkins Jr. (Lavonda), both of Salisbury; daughters Mae Marlin, Elizabeth Cowan (Michael), both of Salisbury, Emma Hamilton (Ozzie), Lexington, Rosa L. Adkins, East Spencer, and Benita Patterson (Steve), Spencer; brothers Mitchell Adkins, Miami, Fla., and Pete Adkins (Bernice), Newton; sister Emma Lee Atkins, Newton; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be Monday 12 noon and visitation at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Baptist church with Bishop Junior Gray officiating and Bishop Willie Joe Gray as Eulogist. Burial will be at Rowan Memorial Park in the MLK section.
