Hoke Mitchem Brittain died May 31, 2018 at Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 26, 1932 in McAdenville, he was the son of Jake and Blanche Rankin Brittain. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Moore Brittain, whom he married on May 24, 1959. Survivors include his daughters, Leigh Slick (Jeff), Jean Leslie (Paul) and Ellen Thompson (Emerson); eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Hoke was a 1958 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. A Veteran of the Army, he served in the Korean Conflict. Hoke was the Executive Vice President of Laguna Sportswear. He served in many local civic positions in the Salisbury area on the Board of Directors including: Sales and Marketing Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Livingstone College Industrial Cluster. Arrangements: A celebration of Hoke's life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Salisbury, NC on Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Mark Conforti officiating. A reception will follow the celebration in the church fellowship hall. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Building Fund, First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Church Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
