MOCKSVILLE - Jean Audrey Cottingham Hamilton, 75, of Mocksville, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Born in Marion, S.C., on Aug. 27, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Benny and Ruby Cottingham. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and had worked at Heritage, Lexington, and Baker Furniture Companies. She also worked at Jockey.
She loved making tables, lamps, painting, crafts, crochet and flowers. She sewed some in her early days. She also loved to sing and dance. She was a very loving mother to all her six children and also loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, L.B. Hamilton and Farris Bailey; a son, Roger D. Hamilton; a brother, Buddy Cottingham; and a sister, Opal Nichols Griffin.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald L. (Vickie) Hamilton, Ricky D. Hamilton and Rocky J. Hamilton, all of Mocksville; two daughters, Regina H. (Randy) Miller of Mocksville and Renee Hamilton of Clemmons; three sisters, Gena May Cox of Kannapolis, Lois (Fred) Gaither of Virginia and Christine Cloer of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Service and Visitation: Her Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Lancaster and Pastor Darrell Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
