CLEVELAND - Mr. John Keaton, age 91, of Needmore Road, passed Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at his residence.
Born April 9, 1921, in Goldsboro, he was a son to the late Pump and Mary Jane Steelman Keaton. He attended public schools of Wayne County and retired as a machinist with Seaford Lumber Co.
Mr. Keaton was a member of Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Cleveland.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Gwendolyn Keaton and Janie Keaton.
Survivors are his wife, Alma Montgomery Keaton of the home; sons Alphonzo Keaton (Shelia), Earl Keaton and Edward Paul Keaton, all of Cleveland, and John Keaton, Jr., of the home; daughters Mary Ellis, Salisbury, Zena Morrison (Kermit), Philadelphia, Pa., and Lorene Vaughters (James), Cleveland; sister Mary Louise Keaton, Statesville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. and visitation 3 p.m. Sunday at Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Cleveland, with the pastor, Rev. William Speas, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
