Lola Jones Hicks

SALISBURY - Lola Jones Hicks, 74, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, (Oct. 26, 2012) at her residence.

She was born May 23, 1938, in Spencer, the daughter of the late Gurley and Ollie Williams Jones. She was educated in Spencer schools.

Mrs. Hicks was employed for Cone Mills for a number of years and was a CNA in home health care.

She was a member of Community Baptist Church and a former member, Sunday School teacher and Girls in Action leader at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cecil Hicks, on Oct. 20, 2010; a son, Tim Wade, on July 19, 2010; and her sister, Lois Moore.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Strange (Henry) of Concord, Vivian Hawkins (Bobby) of Little River, S.C., Cecilia Campbell (Tony) of Richfield, Mary Short (Dion) of Salisbury, Robbie Hicks and wife Debbie and Justin Hicks of Lexington; grandchildren Tammy Beck (Chris), David Morris (Emma), Henry Strange Jr. (Carolyn), Mark Strange, Matt Strange, Bobby Hawkins III (Sarah), Angel Alston (Keith), Tiffany Parrish Waters (Dale), Robert Graham Parrish, Kelly Short; and two additional grandchildren. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren.

Service: A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 31) at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Mason, minister, and Rev. Carol Hallman, minister of the First United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at the U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Community Baptist Church.
