Lorene Hoffner Barringer

SALISBURY - Mrs. Lorene Hoffner Barringer, known to all as "Grandma Weenie," 86, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at her home after a brief illness.

Born March 1, 1926, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Clementine Reid Hoffner and Dave Linn Hoffner.

Educated in Rockwell schools, she was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She loved music, fishing, working in her yard and was a competitive card player. She enjoyed attending the China Grove Senior Feeding site.

Preceding her in death were her husband, C.P. Barringer, Sr.; brothers Richard, Odell, Fred, Robert, Grover, J.L. Hoffner; sisters Ruth Boger, Velna Basinger, Jessie Viola, Lottie Little, Ada Oates, and an infant; along with a sister-in-law, Sarah Lee Boden.

Surviving are son C.P. Barringer and wife Pam of Virginia; daughter Pat B. Smith and husband Bill of Salisbury; brother Claude Hoffner of High Point; sisters Jenny Kirk, Bea Snider and Betty Cauble; sister-in-law Sharon Snider; and brother-in-law Wayne Barringer. There are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren surviving.

Visitation and Service: The family will see friends Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10-11 a.m. at Summersett Funeral Home with funeral services following at 11 a.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
