SALISBURY - Luke "Butch" Farmer, Jr., age 75, of Salisbury, passed away , Oct. 7, 2012, at The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.
Mr. Farmer was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Salisbury, the son of the late Luke Farmer Sr. and Kathleen Miller Farmer. Educated in Rowan County schools, Butch served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Hoechst Celanese.
He was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He loved his church and loved NASCAR.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Ingram Farmer, who he married Sept. 1, 1962; sons Craige Farmer and wife Frances of Salisbury and Tommy Farmer and wife Ashley of Salisbury; grandchildren Elisabeth Farmer, Sarah Farmer, Ben Farmer; and special pet Sammy.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Don Phillips. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park with Military Honors by Rowan County Honor Guard.
The family would like to offer a special Thank You to Dr. Myron Goodman and the family at The Lutheran Home for their care of Mr. Farmer during his illness.
