Margaret Elizabeth Poplin, 91, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at Novant Health Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born May 4, 1927 in Newell Community of Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late John Harrison Gray and Sarah Catherine Herron Gray. She was educated in the Mecklenburg County schools and was a homemaker. Mrs. Poplin was a member of Beulahland Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Robert Poplin on March 21, 1991; her sister, Katie Simpson; grandchildren, Sandra Walker and Donna Burleson; and great-grandchild, Damian Mahala. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Larry Curlee and wife Pat, Peggy Jacobs, Paulette Holland, Fred Poplin, Carolyn Church and husband Roger, all of Salisbury, and Douglas Poplin of Granite Quarry; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren; and nephews, Johnny Simpson of Monre and Larry Simpson of Marshville. Service: A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at Miller Family Cemetery with the Rev. David Porter, Minister of The Cove, Statesville.
