Mary Moser Chavis

KANNAPOLIS - Mary Louise Moser Chavis, of Kannapolis, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House after a brief illness.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1923, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Frank B. and Mary Bryson Moser.

Mary was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and retired after 45 years of service with cannon Mills Plant1 7 weave room.

She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and never met a stranger. Mary resided at Caremoor since 2011 and built a strong bond with her caregivers there.

She is survived by her son, James W. "Woody" Chavis, Jr. and wife Deena; a granddaughter, Kaci Chavis; and a stepgrandson, Shane Blalock, all of Kannapolis.

She is also survived by her brother, John Moser and wife Shirley; her sister, Betty Moser Benfield of Lenoir; and two nieces, Joyce Moser Crotts and Sharon Benfield Philyaw.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Chavis, Sr.; brothers Jim and Tom Moser; and her beloved sister, Frankie "Bill" Moser Davis.

Service and Visitation: A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at Memorial United Methodist with Rev. Jim Brookshire officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
