Michael Mitchell Bennett, 74, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem. Born on March 2, 1944 in Mecklenburg County, Michael was a lifelong resident of North Carolina. He was the son of the late Richard Claude and Willie Baker Bennett. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, he was a member of Main Street Methodist Church. Mr. Bennett was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Fiber Industries/Celanese and the State of North Carolina Department of Corrections. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Paula. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Bennett. Left to cherish his memory are Paula, his wife of 18 years, of the home; and his brother, Jerry Bennett and family of Spencer. Arrangements: A memorial service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at Salisbury National Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan County Animal Shelter, 1465 Julian Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146. Arrangements provided by Carolina Cremation of Salisbury.
